A unique feature of this Centre is that all the needs of the Disabled are met under one roof, providing great relief to parents as Doctors and Therapists visit the Centre at periodic intervals. The Centre adopts the method of involving parents to join their training activity . Many of the independent living skills are taught to children through their parents, who can monitor them at home and make them perform each individual skill set repeatedly. Yet another special feature is the unique attempt to allow normal children to interact with the special ones through Inclusive system of education at this Centre. pic3

BALAJOTHI CENTRE FOR THE DISABLED - ORIGIN

At the tender age of 3, our grandson Rahul Immanuel was found to have Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Speech Impairment and Multiple disabilities and certified 100 % disabled. At this time, as we struggled to help Rahul, we came across several families with disabled children. Like us, they too faced great difficulty in providing care for their children due to lack of knowledge about disabilities and the rehabilitation process. They also had severe financial constraints. Balajothi Centre for the Disabled was founded in 2004 as a Registered Wholly Charitable Trust to help such disabled children and provide relief to their families.
We initially started our services in one room of our home and subsequently built a shelter on the terrace where we now provide physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and special education.
(Our TV program appeared on 7.7.06, 10.7.06, 4.10.06, 5.10.06 and 15.2.07 on Zee Kannada channel. This and other newspaper articles and pictures of our activities are available at our office.)
